Oregon Main Street LogoPhilomath Downtown Association Receives Outstanding Special Event Award and Honorable Mention in the Design Category at Oregon Main Street Conference

The Philomath Downtown Association received the “Outstanding Special Event” award at the Excellence in Downtown Revitalization Awards Ceremony, October 3 in Corvallis, for their “Roll Out the Barrels Street Party” event held in 2011. The Awards Presentation was a highlight of the Oregon Main Street Conference, a popular annual conference that brings together people with an interest in historic downtown and commercial neighborhood revitalization.

“We are thrilled to present this award to the Philomath Downtown Association,” says Sheri Stuart, Oregon Main Street Coordinator. “This is such a fun project – tying into the wine industry and bringing it downtown in a community celebration.”

The Downtown Association also received an Honorable Mention in the Design Category for the Flower Basket Program. "We were thrilled to present this award to the Philomath Downtown Association." Sheri Stuart also said. "This project was a great example of how a small community can pull together resources and engage the whole community in the revitalization efforts."

Dave Zielinski, PDA President and Sarah Leskovec, PDA Administrative Coordinator attended the conference.  Dave Zielinski accepted the awards on behalf of the PDA.  Unfortunately, Cheri Gavlin Roll out the Barrels organizer; Jack Duren and Dale Collins, Flower Basket Program coordinators; were not able to attend the conference.  Seeing as these key people were not there to share in the award presentation the PDA elected to honor their hard work. OMS Conference

Cheri GalvinOn October 16 the PDA held a social gathering at Spindrift Cellars to honor these individuals. The social gathering was attended by several Board and Committee members. The PDA appreciates their dedication and support of the continuing efforts to make Philomath an even greater place to do business!
